The Reverend Silas Henry Steele was born Feb. 25, 1879 to Henry and Margaret Mckensie Steele. In 1916 he married Zora Broadwater. Together they had 4 children: Martha, Paul, Chester, & Ralph. He entered the Ministry in 1914 and for nine and a half years was in the Methodist Protestant conference and later transferred to the Methodist Episcopal conference. He preached at various communities around West Virginia, including Elizabeth, Spencer, Pullman, & Ellenboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Paul.
