Charles Maynard

The people of this community were deeply grieved when they learned of the death of one of Hampshire's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens which occurred at his home, Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock, after a lingering illness of several months.
The deceased was born in Hampshire February 12, 1862 and made his home in this village all his life.
He was the son of Abraham and Ann Maynard, who were among the earliest settlers of this community. Mr. Maynard was the youngest of a family of seven children, James, Mary, Henry, George, and Ed., all of whom preceded him in death, and Mrs. S.M. Dow, who reside in this village.
On September 29, 1880, he was united in marriage with Miss Edith M. Carlisle and four children came to bless this union, Vera Maynard Cockrane of Howell, Mich., and Floyd, Claron, and Raymond who reside here.
Besides his wife and four children he leaves
to mourn his departure one grandchild, Edith Cockrane, and a number of other relatives...
