OBITUARY OF JOHN CHESTER BROWNING

John Chester Browning died December 23, 1992, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin, Kan., at the age of 77.
Chester was born November 16, 1915, at Palisade, Nebraska, the seventh child of John William Browning and Lucinda Pearl Troxel. At a young age he moved to St. Francis, Kan.
On December 22, 1937, he married Geraldine Leona Smith at McCook, Neb. Seven girls blessed their home, including two sets of twins: Vesta Sexton of Fort Morgan, Colo.; Barbara McComas of Bird City; Judy Wolfe of Kansas City, Mo.; Jean Utter of Larkspur, Colo.; Joye Roylston of Mt. Hope; Doris Richard of Warwick, RI; and Delores Arguello of Mt. Hope. He had 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Geraldine died August 18, 1954, a victim of cancer.
Chester married Opal Frances Munday on June 30, 1965. They resided in St. Francis. There were three stepchildren: Everett, Tom and Tina. Opal died March 30, 1987.
Chet moved into the Good Samaritan Village in August of 1989 residing there until his death. He is survived by sisters Dona Miller of Caldwell, Idaho; Lola Zimbelman of Junction City, Ore.; and Doris Anderson of St. Francis; brothers Lester "Mike", and Don of St. Francis and Laverne "Bud" of Hudson, Colo.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sons-in-law Stanley Clapper and Dale Sexton, sister Minnie Murray, brother Jesse Browning and grandson Johnny Ward.
Funeral services were held December 28 at the Kramer Chapel with burial in the St. Francis Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Lee, Ray Lee, Bill Reynolds, Ron Murray, Jim Roylston and Tim Roylston.
