Nada Oliphant Davies, our sweet mother and grandmother, returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 26, 2012 at her daughter Elaine Carpenter's home. She was born on July 7, 1927 to Lucy Druceal Toone and Elgin Oliphant in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was the 2nd of 11 children. She married Donald Leon Davies on Nov 5, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. She is the mother of 11 children, Donald Davies (Dawn), Kenneth Davies, Robin Davies, Fred Davies (Winona), Karen Wilson, Janet Hansen (Brian), Elaine Carpenter (Craig), Clyde Davies, Niel Davies, Eldon Davies, and George Davies (Carole Lynne). She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Leon Davies; and her son, Eldon Jay Davies; as well as her parents and a brother, Clyde Oliphant. She has 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, as well as step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Our dear mother loved children. In addition to nurturing her children and grandchildren she spent many years teaching primary, mostly the younger classes. She loved reading and read daily to her children as we grew up. Our mother was very consistent about holding family prayer and family home evenings. Eight of her children served missions for the LDS church. She played the violin and loved music. She loved hymns and sang in ward choirs most of her life. Our mom had the patience of a saint and yet the tenacity to overcome many challenges.

There will be a viewing at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT, on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the Winder Stake Center, 4366 S. 1500 E., Salt Lake City UT at 11:00 am on Friday, November 2, 2012. There will be a viewing before the funeral at the Stake Center from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
