Her siblings are: Juanita Mae Ferguson Holden, Richard Dockery Ferguson, Raymond Elijah Ferguson, William Wheeler Ferguson, Quentin Roosevelt Ferguson and Ruth Ailene Ferguson Fairchild. Lucille married Hansford Lee Bentley and they are the parents of 5 sons. Their sons are Steven "Steve" Douglas Bentley, Michael "Mike" Lee Bentley, Terry Gray Bentley, Dennis Pete Bentley and Kevin Preston Bentley.

She attended church with her family at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Boomer, North Carolina. After her marriage to Hansford Lee Bentley she moved to Mooresville, Iredell County, North Carolina where they raised their sons. She worked in the textile mills in Mooresville until she retired due to illness.
