Joseph Bertram, 82, a resident of the Town of Ashford (Fond du Lac County), died Tuesday at the Homestead Nursing Home in New Holstein where he had been living for the past year.

He was born July 9, 1893, in Johnsburg, a son of Christ and Eva Krebsbach Bertram. He married Hilda Seurer on February 14, 1917, at Mount Calvary.

Mr. Bertram was a retired cheese maker in the Town of Ashford.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Campbellsport, the parish choir and the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his widow: one son, Jerome of New Holstein; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Hansen of Brookfield: five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Susan Finnemann of Beech N.D., Mrs. Francis Ziegelbauer of Johnsburg, and Mrs. Julia Konen of Brookfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

The funeral Mass will be at 11:15 a.m., Friday, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Campbellsport, with the Reverend Victor Kemmer, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Twohig Funeral Home in Campbellsport after 3 p.m., Thursday.
