Nora Mariah Longino married J.S. Criswell on 12 October 1905 at Jacksboro, Texas in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Longino. The couple moved to Young County, Texas that same year. The couple moved to Graham, Texas in 1959. She preceded him in death.

Services for John Samuel Criswell, 100, longtime Young County rancher and businessman, were held at First United Methodist Church. John S. Criswell was raised on a small ranch south of Graham in the Salem Bend community. He graduated from Graham High School and took a course in Business Administration in Fort Worth. After school, he worked for J.W. Knox of Jacksboro who was a banker, property owner, and rancher. He moved to Graham with his wife and daughter, Kathleen and invested in the Graham Mill & Elevator Company. He served as Vice-President and General Manager. Mr. Criswell's partner was S.R. Crawford. The two men operated Graham Ice and Locker Plant for many years. Mr. Criswell joined the Methodist Church at an early age and was President of the board of Stewards on two different terms. He was Chair of the building committee. Criswell was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Graham. In 1968, Mr. Criswell received a plaque from the National Anxiety 4th Hereford Breeders Association awarding him an Honorary Lifetime Membership. He was a charter member of the Graham Rotary Club and served as president in 1928. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation. He maintained perfect attendance until 1975. He was at one time an active director of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce.

Survived by one daughter - Mrs. C.P. Gregory; one granddaughter - Mrs. Anne Tucker; one great-grandson - Bennett L. Smith, III.

Mr. and Mrs. Criswell lived at 801 Plum Street during their marriage. The house burned.
