Tillman Knox Criswell married Savilla Matilda McLarty on 16 January 1879 at Parker County, Texas.
Tillman Knox Criswell came to Texas with his parents in 1858. His father died in 1859 leaving his mother widowed. One of the successful pioneers of Young County, he took up one of the first claims on the Indian Reservation land when it was opened for pre-emption. He was actively interested in the agriculture of Young County for as long as he lived.
The Lafferty and Criswell families have been allied through several generations. The Criswell and Lafferty families moved together from Arkansas to Texas.
