Doris Evelyn Nicoson Poindexter, 87, Marengo, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 8:20 a.m. in English at the home of her daughter.
Born Aug. 2, 1922, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Nicoson and Ethel Watkins.
She was a retired owner/operator of a clothing and dime store in English and a member of Marengo United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Poindexter.
Survivors include her children, Bob Poindexter of Reno, Nev., Wilma Benz of Marengo, Ronnie Poindexter of Columbus, Darrell Poindexter of Lawrenceburg, Lyndon Poindexter of Cloverdale and Pam Wilkes of English; a brother, Gene Nicoson of Terre Haute; a sister, June Shaw of Terre Haute; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, June 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 19, after 9 a.m. at Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo.
Funeral: Saturday, June 19, at 1 p.m. at Marengo United Methodist Church with burial in Mather's Chapel Cemetery in English.
Officiant: The Rev. Deb Reichenbach.
The family suggests memorial gifts to her church or Hosparus.
