Darrell D. Poindexter, 67, of Lawrenceburg, Ind. passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at his home. He was born October 9, 1947, in Bedford, Ind. son of the late Robert and Doris Nieoson Poindexter. Darrell enjoyed woodworking, playing gold, being outdoors, helping others in need, eating morel mushrooms and watching his grandsons play baseball and his grandaughter in gymnastics and dance. He was a graduate of Indiana State University and taught industrial arts classes for seven years, was a home builder and for the last 24 years was the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise owner in Lawrenceburg. He was a member and trustee at the Greendale First Church of Christ. He was also on the board of directors at the Lawrenceburg Conservanery District. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Marlene Toney Poindexter; a son, Bradley Poindexter (Angel); daughter, Lee Ann Graf (Adam); five grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron and Jacob Poindexter and Alex and Max Graf; three brothers, Bob Poindexter (Beth) of Reno, Nev. Ron Poindexter (Bev) of Columbus,Ind; and Lyndon Poindexter (Cindy) of Cloverdale; and his two sisters, Wilma Benz (Don) of Marengo and Pam Wilkes (Mark) of English. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Doris Poindexter. Funeral services were held on May 19 at the Greendale First Church of Christ with Tim Russell, minister, officiating. Interment was in the Greendale Cemetery.
