Imogene Shidler, 91, of Lewis died Thursday, April 20, 2006, in Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Lewis to Ernest Nicoson and Ethel Watkins Nicoson.
he married Orval ?Jack? Shidler March 15, 1934, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Jack Shidler and his wife, Brenda of Lewis; two daughters, Sue Hofmann and her husband, David of Brazil, Yvonne Blankman and her husband, Jack of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Mike Shidler and his wife, Bonnie and Greg Shidler, all of Lewis, Steve Hofmann and his wife, Amanda of Cory, Rob Hofmann and his wife, Nancy and Kevin Hofmann, all of Cory, Brian Hofmann and his wife, Lora of Seelyville, and Beth Norris and her husband, Doug of Pimento; seven great-grandchildren, Camden Shidler and his wife, Becky of Terre Haute, Alexis Shidler of Lewis, Mindy Landan and her husband, Matt of Seelyville, Kayla Gorman and her husband, Jared of Terre Haute, Brittany Hofmann and Dylan Hofmann, both of Cory, and Cooper Hofmann of Terre Haute; one brother, Gene Nicoson and his wife, Juanita of Seelyville; two sisters, Doris Poindexter of Morengo and June Shaw and her husband, Jim of Terre Haute; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Nicoson and Nancy Nicoson, both of Terre Haute; and many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Noval, Max and Ed ?Ted? Nicoson; and one sister, Eleanor McCullough.
She graduated from Honey Creek High School, was a member of Briley Chapel Church and a charter member Everwelcome Home Economics CIub. She loved to quilt, sew, cross stitch, grow flowers, mow grass and bake cookies.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City, with the Rev. Nathan Couch officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Briley Chapel Church or to a charity of the donor?s choice, with envelopes available in the funeral home.
