Ashby Wright Arnn of 350 Lumpkin Road E, Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of 365 Arnn Lane, Danville, Virginia, died October 21, 2008 in Palmyra Medical Center, Albany, Georgia.

The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Swicegood Funeral Home with interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Danville, Virginia. The Reverends Robert Hardy, III and Robert Hardy, IV and Elder Mark Terry will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home.

Mr. Arnn was born February 15, 1915 in Callands to the late Hundley and Jessie Wright Arnn. He lived in Pittsylvania County most of his life until December 2006 when he moved to Leesburg with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a tobacco and dairy farmer for many years. He was co-owner and operator of Green and Arnn Repair Shop from 1955 until his retirement in 1979. He enjoyed working with the public and the fellowship with his customers and friends. He was of the Baptist faith, joining the church at age 12. He was a dedicated and supportive member of Sharon Baptist Church for forty years. The last few years, as his health permitted, he attended Primitive Baptist churches in the area.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Vera Green Arnn; a daughter, Joyce Smith and husband John; two grandchildren, Lynn Smith and wife Susan, Laura Cloud and husband Tony; four great-grandchildren, Luke and John Smith, Connor and Kyle Cloud, all of Leesburg, Georgia; two brothers, Harold (Frog) Arnn of Dry Fork and Gene Arnn of Biloxi, Mississippi; three sisters, Estelle Yeatts (Tony) of Dry Fork, Ann Hardy (Fletcher) of Danville and Betty Ward (Bobby) of Daniels, West Virginia.

He was predeceased in death by a daughter, Annie Jo Arnn; two sisters, Dorothy Frances Arnn and Juanita Arnn; two brothers, John (Pete) Arnn and Paul Arnn.

Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
