"Local Firefighter Stricken at Fire Succumbs Sunday

William E. Austin, 46 year old firefighter, who was confined to the Grover Manor Hospital after being stricken with a heart attack following the fighting of a fire that destroyed Mede's Log Cabin, on Saturday, July 21, died early Sunday morning.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Beach St. Rev. John A. Bailey, pastor, officiated at the services. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

A large number of off duty firefighters attended the services and six fellow firefighters acted as honorary pall bearers. The uniformed men marched with the funeral cortege to the Central Fire Station where all the city's fire apparatus was parked with the working shift standing at attention. The fire horn was sounded as the procession passed the station."

The obituary continues for several more paragraphs. I don't know where or when it was published. My copy of Buster's obituary comes from a collection of family obituaries and correspondence saved by my grandmother, William's sister.
