Mrs. Moore died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, in an automobile accident north of Overbrook.
She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Richland, the daughter of Noble and Esther Florence (Rowe) Remington. She was a lifelong resident of the Richland/Overbrook area and attended rural grade schools and Overbrook Rural High School. She later received her G.E.D. from Santa Fe Trail High School.
Mrs. Moore worked at Luce Clippings for several years in Topeka and later for Richland Gas Station. She was a custodian at Richland School and hung wallpaper in Richland and Overbrook. She was also a motor vehicle clerk for the state of Kansas in Topeka for 30 years until she retired in 1995.
She married Elmer Edman Moore on Jan. 29, 1943. He died May 24, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Elwyn Lee Moore, Pomona; two daughters, Claudia Jean Trout, Baldwin, and Patricia Ann Gustin, Topeka; three brothers, Raymond Remington, Scranton, Bob Remington, Topeka, and Don Remington, Carbondale; five sisters, Marie Waetzig, Carbondale, Jean Gish, Colorado Springs, Colo., Helen Boaz and Mae Owens, both of Tehachapi, Calif., and Erma Trowbridge, Topeka; eight grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
