Dorothy Strickland Farr Ahrend, 75, of 5679 Snapps Creek Road in Singers Glen, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Willow Estates.

Mrs. Ahrend was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Teaneck, N.J., and was a daughter of the late Dr. Walter and Dorothy Strickland Farr.

She attended Averett College in Danville. She was a member of the Women's Committee for Rockingham County Farm Bureau, the Spotswood Country Club Women's Golf and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

On Oct. 9, 1964, she married Charles "Chuck" W. Ahrend, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Charles David Ahrend of Morgantown, W.Va.; two daughters, Kerry Lynn Ahrend of Raleigh, N.C., and Robin Ann Schock of Singers Glen; a sister, Sibyl Lange of Hendersonville, N.C.; a brother, Walter Farr of Ashland, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. Philip Wiehe will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at the Singers Glen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
