Mary is my grt-grandmother. She came to Texas from Arkansas with her husband, John Harvey Miers, during the Civil War to escape the nearness of the Union Army. In Ennis, she gave birth to several more children. This is about all I know about her. I have only one photo of her which I will post here.

She and my grt-grandfather,were married in Jacksonport, Jackson County, Arkansas, in 1855. They were both born in Tennessee. I have learned that she was born in Maury County, but cannot prove it. I don't know who her parents were either, except that she came to Jackson County, Arkansas to live with an uncle after her parents died. John Harvey died in Walnut, Bosque County, Texas, in 1892 and is buried there in the Oak Grove Cemetery (Also shown on Find A Grave).

Their children, born in AR:
James Miers, b. 1858; Fannie, b. abt 1860. These two do not show up on the 1870 census. Jesse T., 1858-1940; William Burwill, 1861-1938 (my grandfather).

Their children, born in TX:
Sallie A., 1870-1960; John Harvey, 1874-1938; Henry (?) & Marion (?); Walter B., 1882-1954.

Mary was living with her daughter, Sallie Miers Wilkie Miller, and husband, Paul Miller, in Dallas when she died. Her death certificate shows that she died of stomach cancer.
