Danny E. Curtis, Galesburg Chapel 66, of Galesburg, Ill. died at 8:57 am Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 2, 1946 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Everett and Evelyn Woolem Curtis. He married Linda R. Lowery on May 18, 1968 in Brunswick, Ga. She survives.
Also surviving is his son, Neil (Beth) Curtis of Aledo, Ill. and his daughter, Kim (Jim) Weber of Keller, Texas, a sister, Bonnie Parrish of Los Angeles, Calif., brother in law Danny Frank Lowery Statesboro, Ga., five grandchildren, Sterling and Shelby Curtis, Taylor, Allie and Lauren Weber, two step grandchildren Ryan and Allyson Westphahl, and several nieces and nephews. Thanks to all of our family and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Terry and a sister Kathy Belleville.
He served in the US Navy for 4 years during Vietnam War stationed at Glen Coe, Brunswick, Ga.
Danny worked for the Galesburg Sanitary District for 30 years. After retiring, he worked for 9 years for the Galesburg Transit until April 2013. He graduated from Galesburg High School. He received his Associate in Science from Carl Sandburg College. He was a member and very involved with the Harvest Church of God. Danny enjoyed remodeling, construction, working on cars, his animals, riding his motorcycle, all sports including NASCAR, and running.
Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday November 5, 2013 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Rev. Gary Bryan will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with services.
