RE: Olive Kidd
Dear Mrs. B. R. Mawyer,

(I hope here I am able to address you well and proper)

Thank you Maam for all your doing, have done, and shall do too. It is well!

I guess youall are a graduate of NCHS too, as so many of our kin are. Youall remember 1969 what did occur. That night I had talked with our Bryant girls as they had school that day. We had been fishing the day before where it rained over 5 inches in 1/2 hour at Julian Parrs camp omn the North fork of the Tye river and had moved a big boulder we saw driving back down Va. Rt 56.

The Kidd's were across the new Hatt Creek from us at what was Wilsons Store in downtowntown Roseland.
Even to date some of my cousins are not found. I cry every day for our Bryants in Roseland up HaTT Creek in the Bryant section of Roseland up Va. Rt 151.

Of your Mawyer kin I know a lot too.

Hunter M. Mawyer, chairman of the Nelson County Board of Supervisors (1969)

Did you know Walter A. Hoffman, Junior he was on the Nelson Board too and a close friend? He had so much of his equipment ruined giving his all at the flood of 69'

"That night of Aug. 19-20 , 1969 A.D. at Davis Creek »ent a 100-foot high wall of water, trees, mud and debris across •the road'like a mammoth bulldozer"

In Roseland at my Grandaddies houe squished the US Postal Department office he had built a measure of 27 feet high mark of flowing water.

Mary Loving was the US Postmaster at Roseland and borrowed a horse to alert her boss that the Postal Office had washed away. The safe was found down at Tye Brook on our kin Saunders property Doctor Williams had.No communication was working at that time except our C.B. and AM radios.

May your reunion go well and hope you find Sharon.

Was Mrs.Kaye Payne STATON in your class/?/ Her brother Addison was the President of his class

Her mom, AKA: Lousie just passed away and is up at Bethlehem UMC across from Widows corner on Va. Rt 151 South. Her brother Thomas Bland Harvey , my uncle is the sexton.

On Mrs. Sharon KiDD _____I thought she was married to a Bradley. One of the children of Billy and Olive are charged with the paying of Taxes in Roseland, Nelson County, Virginia. So I suggest going to the County Seat (now) of Lovingston. I thought Mrs. Payne is as well in charge .. if not she will be able to point yoall in the correct direction of the payer of the two acres between Harvey, KIDD, Payne and Harvey land.

I know the rest moved up to Madison , Wisconsin after.

Forgot now the youngest one.. but Rochelle and Selma were two more of the Kidd's four daughters.
If my mempory serves me well.. I thought one of the Kidds went to California as well..(((???)))

Hope this all helps youall more too.

Regards,

Jonathan Robert De Mallie

PS: Please add me as yur friend.

On Finda Grave here now too.

Olive Kidd
Mr. De Mallie, I see you have placed a note on Mrs. Olive Giese Kidd's memorial. I am looking for her daughter, Sharon, because we graduated from high school the same year and I would like to contact her about a class reunion. Do you have any information on her? Thanks so much for all you do on Find-A-Grave.
