Theodore John Roessler
The second tragic accident of the week end took the life of T. J. Roessler, 29, who suffered concussion, and a broken arm and leg Friday night about 9:15 when the automobile he was driving collided at the intersection of the highway in east Electra with a grain truck driven by a man from Bowie. Driver of the truck and a man companion were not injured.
Roessler died within a few minutes after being rushed by a James B. Totten ambulance to the Electra Hospital. Rev. Father William Bender, pastor of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and a patient in the hospital at the time of the accident, was placed in a wheel chair and brought to the emergency room to administer last rites to the victim.
Funeral services for the young man were conducted at 9 o'clock Monday morning from Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, with Rev. Bernard Loughrey, assistant pastor of the Sacred Heart Church in Wichita Falls officiating.
Pallbearers were Clarence Mengwasser, Gilbert Jacobi, Louis Hartmangruber, Albert Wolf, Herman Kempf and Joe R. Jacobi. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under direction of James B. Totten Funeral Home.
Roessler was a native of Electra and had been engaged in farming with his father north of town.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Roessler, Electra; two brothers, Joe and Charles Roessler, Electra; eight sisters, Mrs. S. J. Hartmangruber, Hondo; Mrs. Justin Decarnor, Hondo; Mrs. A. J. Jacobi, Burburnett; Mrs. E. J. Flusche, Venice, Calif.; Mrs. J. C. Swindell, Venice, Calif., Mrs. Jake Trujillo, Trindad, Colo.; Miss Sophia Roessler, White Deer and Miss Maedell Roessler, Electra.
