Rev. William Bender, rector of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, was assisted by Rev. Sebastian Krimple of Vernon; Rev. Lewis Miller of Stanton and Rev. Pete Norsch of Nazareth, in officiating in funeral services held in Mt. Carmel Church, Monday morning, for Jacob Roessler, age 89 years, who died Friday morning in a Vernon hospital. The J.B. Totten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mike Hartmangruber of Iowa Park; Henry Reis and Charlie Martysek of Vernon; Henry Jansen, N. J. Jacobi and John Weisenfels of Electra.

Rev. Bender led in the recitation of the Rosary service in the chapel of the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Born in Chicago, Ill., of German parents who had come to the United States from Treves, Germany in 1864, Mr. Roessler came to Texas with his parents in 1877 by train, landing in Houston from which place they went by covered wagon to Columbus where they engaged in farming. They bought land in the Westphalia Colony in Falls County in 1883.

He was married to Miss Hattie Looka at Westpahlia in 1889, living there until 1902 when they homesteaded land near Anadarko, Okla. They came to Electra and bought land in the Waggoner Colony in 1907, settling on a farm in the County Line community.

Mr. Roessler was one of the first trustees of the County Line School which he helped to build. He served many years as school trustee, was a member of the election board at Mt. Carmel voting box and was active in soil conservation projects and all civic work of the area until his retirement in 1949 when he and his wife sold their farm and moved to Vernon.

He was among the charter members of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and a close friend and co-workers with the late Emil Flusche, founder of the church and community.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, Charles of Electra and Joe Roessler of Jal. New Mexico, eight daughters, Mesdames S. J. Martmangruber and Justine Dacernor of Floresville, Texas; J. C. Swindel, San Francisco, Calif.; John Fujillo, San Pabro, Calif., Emil Flusche, Electra; A. J.
