Mrs. Julia Belle Craddock, 78, died at her Fortuna residence Sunday morning after an extended illness.

She was a native of Sodaville, Oregon, and lived in eastern Oregon until she was 18 when she moved to California, living first in Sacramento and Stockton. She came to Fortuna in 1909 and made her home there and in Oakland; the past five years in Fortuna.

Survivors include her children, Mrs. Edith French, Loleta; Chester C. Craddock, Fortuna; Miss Aletha Craddock, Oakland; Mrs. Melba Davis, Fortuna; Mrs. Doris Tavis, Fortuna; Miss Marie Craddock, Fortuna; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives living in California and Oregon.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Goble's Fortuna chapel with the Rev. J. Eldon Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Ocean View cemetery.

Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Charles Bryant, Leslie, Donald and Shirley French, Robert Davis and Chester Craddock, Jr.

In 1930, Julia was living in Oakland, California, with her husband Frederick C. Craddock and two of their daughters, Aletha and Marie. Frederick passed away on December 3, 1938, in Alameda County, California, at the age of 69*. By the 1940 census, Julia was living in Fortuna with her daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Sewell Davis and their two children.
