She married Fred Leroy Nicholson in 1906 at Toulon, IL where they are living for the 1910 US census, he is farming.
In 1916 Emery & Anna make a decision to live in retirement in Southern Calif, at Long Beach, CA. May goes with them.
The 1920 US census shows that May is living with her parents and that she is divorced; they live on East 5th St in Dist 78.
By the 1930 US census May is married to Walter Mickelson and they live on Gurdy Ave. in Long Beach, CA.
Walter is a brick mason by trade that he learned from his father. Walter's family is from Oslo, Norway.
Walter dies in 1950 and May stays on at their home on Gurdy Ave for awhile. Lives on Pine Ave in Long Beach, CA at the time of her death.
Anna May is my Grt, Grt "Aunt May" as she was known to our family. We visited her lovely home in Long Beach some times, but my mother, having 5 children, always felt uneasy during a visit because it seemed too 'perfect' an atmosphere for we kids to make ourselves 'at home'...we were told ahead of time to 'BE GOOD'!
Aunt May had a wonderful home with beautiful yards and that is where we first tasted cumquots from her tree growing in the backyard.
Our Aunt May was a devoted Believer in Jesus Christ as her Savior, a special Aunt to me.
