PIONEER CITIZEN DIED SUNDAY

J.M.COLLNS HAD BEEN SICK FOR MANY MONTHS AND END WAS EXPECTED.

J.M. Collins, aged 67 years, died Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks. The remains were laid to rest in the Childress cemetery on Monday afternoon, July 28, 1924, at 3 o'clock, being followed by a large number of friends who paid their last respects to the man whom they had known for a number of years.

Mr. Collins and family moved to this vicinity several years ago, residing for some years east of the city on a farm. Some five or six years ago he moved to the city. Mrs. Collins had been sick for a number of years, being confined to her room for years, but during the past year has gained much in health and is now able to be around the greater part of the time. There are several children in the family, all of whom were here at the time of death.

... who was held in respect by all who knew him, and this was J.M. Collins, who passed away Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock, after an illness of long duration.

The remains were laid to rest Monday afternoon, July 28th, at 3:00 o'clock in Childress Cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends who were grieved to lose this good neighbor and friend. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful.

Deceased moved to Childress county many years ago, and settled on a farm east of the city. About five years ago Mr. Collins come [sic] with his family to the city, where they have since resided. Mrs. Collins had been an invalid for several years but late has been improving in health. Many relatives were present when the end came to this good man, among whom were Lark Collins and family, Virgil Collins and family, Shelly Collins and family, Mrs. Florence Ulmer and family, Marvin Collins, H. Archer Collins, M.J. Collins, J.M. Collins, W.J. Collins.
