DEATH TAKES MRS. COLLINS
"Grannie" Collins is dead.
Her name was Mrs. Dicy Jane Collins, but scores knew the elderly woman as just "Grandma" or "Grannie."
Mrs. Collins was claimed by death Thursday afternoon at her home, 800 Ave E, Se. She was 89 years old.
She came to Childress in 1907 to finish rearing a large family--four sons and two daughters. Other descendants are 33 grandhildren and 30 great grandchilden.
Her children are: Sons, M.E. Collins and S. N. Collins of Childress, L. Collins of Kirkland, and Virgil Collins of Hollis, Okla.; and daughters, Mrs. J.G. Ulmer of Childress and Mrs. Ida Brinkly of Goodletsville, Tenn.
Mrs. Collins was the widow of J.M. Collins.
Her birthday was March 10, 1847.
Funeral services will be said at 2 o'colock Satruday afternoon at the residence of Rev. E.A. Maness, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be chosen from her grandsons, and flower bearers will be her granddaughters. Burial in the Childress Cemetery will be directed by the McMinn Funeral Home.
Twenty-six of Mrs. Collins' grandchildren and seven great granchildren live in Childress County. All will attend the funeral.
