Died of Wounds
Enlisted on Feb. 28, 1862. Wounded during the Battle of Antietam, he died of his wounds at an Army field hospital near Keedysville, Washington County, Maryland. Private Cochran was initially buried near the battle site.
[N.B. In 1879, the War Department provided a headstone for PVT Cochran at Marietta Cemetery (formerly denoted "Village Cemetery"). PVT Cochran is, therefore, recorded in the National Graves Registration Database of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War as being interred in this cemetery. There is also a Find-A-Grave memorial for him at Antietam National Cemetery.]
