George Quintin Nader, 75, of Farmington passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at his residence.


Born in Kickapoo on Feb. 16, 1932, to Frank and Elizabeth (Stark) Nader, he married Betty Ciardi on Nov. 24, 1956, in Farmington.


She survives, along with four children, Mary (Lyle) Lascelles of Havana, Lisa (John) Baca of Pueblo West, Colo., David (Karen) Nader of Canton and Jim (Lisa) Nader of Farmington; four sisters, Virginia (John) Stokowski of Peoria, Shirley Nader of Bensonville, Margaret Nader of Peoria and Deloris (Warren) Oppe of Peoria; and one sister-in-law, Veronica Nader of Kickapoo.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kermit Nader; and one sister, Irene Nader.


He graduated from Spalding Institute in Peoria.


He loved to garden and work in his yard.


George began working at LeTourneau in Peoria at the age of 18 and worked at this facility for 42 years, retiring in 1992.


He was a U.S. Navy seaman apprentice in Korea and served on the USS Sarsi, which was on night patrol in the Hungnam Harbor. On Aug. 27, 1952, it struck a mine and sank. George was one of only 92 survivors.


Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by Farmington American Legion Post 140.
