Mabel Bradford Burns went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. She was 92 years of age. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Pat Driskell officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mabel was born Jan. 14, 1912, to Lonnie and Annie Bradford in Pope County, Ark. She married Lee Dixon on Dec. 23, 1928, in Pope County. She moved with her family to Lubbock County in 1935 and lived in the area the remainder of her life.

She is survived by her children, Edmon Dixon of Lubbock, Carl Dixon and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo, Jerry Dixon of California, Jimmy Burns and wife Barbara of Fredericksburg, Margaret Scott and husband Billy of Lubbock, Wanda Cannon and husband Pete of Roswell, N.M., Wynona Coates of Lubbock, Velinda Bayne and husband Narvel of Midland, and Melva Long and husband John of Lubbock; sisters, Louise Davis of Lubbock, Sue Poll ard of Houston, and Bennie Allison of Sparks of Nevada; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She married Forest Burns on Dec. 26, 1956, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1980. She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Dixon; two granddaughters, Janet Anderson and Theresa Dixon; one grandson, Roger Dixon; and seven sisters and brothers. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorials to Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home.
