Katalin was born in Liszo, Somogy County (now Zala), Hungary; she was baptized in the Lutheran parsonage in Surd. Katie came to the USA in 1914 with her husband Paul and 9 mo-old son Joseph. They first settled in Columbus, Ohio on Parsons Ave., then moved to Mark Center, Defiance Co., Ohio in 1921
She was the mother of four children:
Joseph, Katherine, Paul Jr., and Rose
She cooked and baked the most wonderful Hungarian foods and pastries from memory. Regretfully I do not have any of her recipes., so I re-create the foods from my memory and from recipes on the internet! She only spoke a few words in English, but managed to convey her love to all her grandchildren with hugs, kisses, and smiles.
