Born at Columbus on March 21, 1918, he was the son of Katherne (Voris) and Paul Yekisa
He had been a laborer with the General Motors Powertrain Division for 33 years. Mr Yekisa also had worked 10 years with the Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, Michigan, and was employed part-time at the Orchard Hills Country Club in Bryan.
Mr. Yekisa was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Defiance and General Motors Retirees Local 211, and he bowled for many years in the Defiance area.
In 1947, he married Mildred Knepley, and she died in 1966. He then married Vivian Jermeay in 1986, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs Jim (Nancy) Belt of Waterville and Mrs. Lynn (Sharon) Keller of Defiance; a son, Roger of Newark; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Doug (Charmaine) Carlin of Stryker and Mrs. Gordon (Pat) Short of Archbold; two stepsons, Scott Burkholder of Archbold and Jeff Burkholder of Bryan; five grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren and a sister, Rosa Krupp of Manchester, Michigan.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Joseph; and a sister, Kathryn Snow.
Services were to have been at 2 p.m. today in St. John Lutheran Church. Burial was to have been in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
