Joseph was born in Sand, Somogy County, Hungary; he was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Sand, Hungary. He arrived in the USA with his parents April 1914 through Ellis Island. The Hungarian spelling for Yekisa is "Jekisa" and is the spelling in the Ellis Island Index.

Joe was a lifelong Farmer in Washington Twp.,Defiance Co., OH. He was one of the first farmers in the area to purchase a self-propelled combine. He took pride in having up-to-date farming equipment. He kept it very clean, even waxed everything before putting it away for the winter!

He started farming with Horses and ended using Tractors with air-conditioned cab and a stereo radio. He would say, "what more could be done to improve a farmer's equipment"! He would be amazed with the technology on farm equipment today!

I am sure he is looking down from Heaven, with his wife Maxine, watching the progress and saying to her "can you believe they have computers and GPS in the tractors and combines, how much better can it get"!
