Josephine “Irons” Aldridge age 96 of Tomball, Texas will be laid to rest at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakwood City Cemetery with Rev. Jack Smith, Jr. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mrs. Aldridge died Saturday at Health South Vistas in Conroe. She was born September 3, 1919 in Criner, OK to John and Mary Ward Irons. She traveled to Texas in 1926, in a Model T, riding on an ironing board laid across the doors. In her early years Josephine worked as a telephone operator in Oakwood, TX., she moved to Dallas, TX. to finish her degree in nursing, and moved to Houston, TX. to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston. Mrs. Aldridge was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant with over 40 years of service, working until the age of 94 and winning numerous sales awards. Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 41 years, Vernon Guy “Red” Aldridge, five brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by her daughter Lesa Ann Brumfield of Tomball, sons, Thomas Wayne Avara of Bedias and Jerry Ray Avara of Channelview, sister Doris Wilson, five grandchildren, Skip Avara, Cathy McAdams, John Avara, Jamie Luna and Tisha Rajabi, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
