DR. F. (sic) D. ACHOR DEAD
Dr. F. D. Achor, 908 Constitution, died Sunday morning at 1:25 o'clock in the Newman Memorial County hospital.
Dr. Achor was born March 31, 1844, in Clint (sic) county, Ohio, and when he was 10 years old moved with his parents to Highland county, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. He first attended school at a business college in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and then taught school for a time. He was married to Margaret Ann Michael in 1868 in Lynchburg, Ohio, and attended the Ohio Medical college in Cincinnati, and also Earlham college in Indiana. Dr. Achor practiced medicine in Lynchburg until he came to Kansas in 1885 for his health and taught school near Junction City. He later moved to Alta Vista where he practiced medicine until 1893, and then moved to where Weatherford, Okla., is located. In 1909 he moved to Emporia and in the same year suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. Mrs. Achor died in 1916, one child in infancy, and another in 1909.
Dr. Achor is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Z. D. Woodard, of Emporia; one sister, Mrs. E. E. Richardson, of Columbus, Ohio, and one brother, S. T. Achor, of Philadelphia, Pa.
Private funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Dumm chapel, and at the grave at Maplewood cemetery, where the Masonic lodge will have charge. Rev. R. E. Jackson, pastor of the Friends church, will assist the Masons.
