Along with her husband and several of her brothers and their families, left Bedford County, Virginia about 1859 and relocated to northwest Missouri. Eventually moved to Elwood, Kansas across the Missouri river from St. Joseph, Missouri.
Death notice from the Weekly Kansas Chief, Troy, Kansas, February 19, 1880:
Died: February 12th 1880, Mrs. Clater [sic], of erysipelas. She leaves several children, some of them nearly grown. Her age was about 50 years. [Claytor family Bible states she was 54 years of age]
