[Clarence] Calvin Chambers, 82, of Leavenworth, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at his home.

Calvin was born on July 3, 1930, in Leavenworth, the son of Albert Sr. and Hattie [Gorski] Chambers. On June 25, 1950, he married Joanne Swearingen in Leavenworth. She survives him.

He is also survived by a son, Bruce Chambers, Alma, KS; a daughter Peggy (Michael) Caltabiano, Fredericksburg, VA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Herbek; four grandsons, Ryan Caltabiano, Todd, Eric and Chad Chambers; and four great grandchildren.

Calvin served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from the US Penitentiary, Leavenworth. He was a member of the Pilgrim Community Church.

Cremation is being handled by the Davis Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013, beginning at 1 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. Both will be held at the Davis Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pilgrim Community Church, 5th and Arch, Leavenworth, KS, 66048; Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care (www.kansascityhospice.org) or a charity of the donor's choice.
