Albert J. Chambers Sr., 81, Wolcott, died unexpectedly Monday in the Veterans Administration Medical Center while visiting his son.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Chambers was born Sept. 10, 1902, at Leavenworth, the son of William and Jenny Jackson Chambers. He was employed at the Missouri Valley Shipyards during World War II and later worked at the Kansas State Penitentiary until he retired in 1967. He and his son operated dairy farms at Lansing and Jarbalo where he raised and trained Appaloosa horses until his health failed.
He married Hattie Gorski on Feb. 21, 192?. She survives at the home. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Chambers, and sister Alice Murray.
He is survived by three sons, Albert Chambers Jr., and Calvin Chambers, both of Leavenworth, and Joe Chambers, Lindsborg; six grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
Friends may call at the chapel after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to the Heart Fund.
