Gladys H. Harding, 79, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Harding was born in Lisle, NY, on January 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Leaman and Dorothy Clute Quail. A graduate of Whitney Point School, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus. She retired from Great American where she worked as a head cashier until 1992. Well known for her cooking and baking, her compassion for her family and friends was "job one." Her commitment to church was very close to her heart. We know without a doubt that we will see her in heaven.
She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 61 years, Paul "Pete" Harding of Cincinnatus; her children, Gary (Nan) Harding, Alan (Dawn) Harding, Teri (Fred) Niggli, Shari (James) Dann, and Cindy (Mike) Grzebin, all of Marathon; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Aldine Gedeon of Oregon, Floyd Quail of Richford, and Hugh (Joann) Quail of Florida; a brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) Harding of Marathon; and a sister-in-law, Jean Underwood of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Maud and Gerald Tillotson; and brothers-in-law Robert Gedeon and Archie Underwood.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus with her pastor, Reverend David Perrott, officiating. Burial will be in Marathon Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m.to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Harding may be directed to the Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045, or the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus, 2608 Baptist Avenue, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
