Mary V. Butterfield, 85, of N. Lowell Rd., Windham, NH, died Thursday, December 5, 2002, at the Birchwood Nursing Home in Derry, NH. She was born in Chester Grant, Nova Scotia, Canada on March 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Sylvester A. and Agnes (Walker) Boylan. She was a resident of Windham for the past 61 years, formerly living in Salem, NH. She had been employed as a clerk for the US Post Office in Windham, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Windham, and a charter member of the Windites. She was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church in Windham where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, having served as an officer and as president. She was a member of the Cursillo Community at St. Basil’s in Methuen, MA. Mrs. Butterfield enjoyed cooking, sewing, and quilting; she was a homemaker extraordinaire.
She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Butterfield of Windham, three sons, Dennis C. Butterfield of Windham, Timothy J. Butterfield of Derry, Gary M. Butterfield of Windham, five grandchildren, three sisters, Rita Smith of Tallahassee, FL, Marion Hixon of Deltona, FL, Constance Schultz of Salem, several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9th at 10:00 at St. Matthews Church, Searles Rd., Windham. The burial will follow in the Cemetery on the Plains in Windham. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry on Sunday afternoon December 8th from 1 – 5.
