He was born December 28, 1930, in Bluebell to James Ivan and Minnie Altheda Thompson Bird,
His mother died when he was three months old, and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Kelsey Charles and Mary Merrell Lisonbee Bird.
He married Donna Marie Nielsen in 1950 in Salt Lake City and was later divorced.
He married Ruth Ann Hamilton in Vernal, October 26, 1967 and later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple October 10, 1986.
Jim spent most of his life at Moon Lake. He was caretaker of the Moon Lake Dam for 27 years.
He owned James A. Bird Construction and loved running heavy equipment. He liked to hunt and fish but his greatest love was his family and friends.
At the time of his death he was President of Dry Gulch Irrigation Co. and on the board of directors for Dry Gulch, Moon Lake Water Users and Associated Water Users.
He was a stake missionary, an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple and High Priest Group Leader in his ward. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Bird, of Bluebell; Sons, Steven Bird, Draper; Rick Bird, Spokane; Kelly Dee (Janice) Bird, Bluebell: Daughters, Sheila (Gary) Fieldsted, Boneta; Kitty (Kelly) Sorensen, Altamont; Suzzanne (Shane) Rowley, Altonah, Stepsons, Russell (Vickie) Taylor, Pleasant Grove; Duane (Sheryl) Taylor, Duchesne; Darin (Tracy) Taylor, Orem. 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
