She was born August 15, 1938, in Bismark, Missouri, to John William Henry and Della Nall Hamilton. She married James Myron Taylor, and they were later divorced. She married James Almond Bird, October 26, 1967, in Vernal, Utah. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple on October 10, 1986. He died October 2, 1995.
Ruth has worked the last two years as a secretary for the US Forest Service Office in Roosevelt and several years ago as an LPN in Rock Springs, WY, and Vernal. She played the fiddle and taught for several. She began the Old Time Fiddlers Uintah Basin Chapter. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling and being in the outdoors. She was an avid genealogist. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary and Relief Society presidencies, and as a temple worker in both the Provo and Vernal Temples. She loved yard work and gardening, and writing children's stories and poetry. She prized her children, grand-children and great-grandchilren.
She is survived by her children, James Russell (Vickie) Taylor, Pleasant Grove; Myron Duane (Sheryl) Taylor, Duchesne; and Darin (Tracy) Taylor, Orem; Steven K. Bird, Draper; Sheila M. (Gary) Fieldsted, Boneta; Kitty (Kelly A.) Sorensen, Altamont; Rick James Bird, Salt Lake City; Kelly (Janice) Bird, Bluebell; Suzzanne (Shane) Rowley, Utahn; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Eugene (Sherrie) Hamlton, Cheyenne, WY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Alonzo A. Bird, brother, William Lee Hamilton, and a sister, Rose Mary Church.
Funeral services held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at the Altamont Stake Center.
Interment in the Bluebell Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
