George Maupin Harris was the son of Anderson R. Harris and his first wife Araminta Jane Atkinson/Adkinson. He was married to Cornelia Marie Coonce in November of 1878 in Boone County, Missouri. Maupin Harris was a pioneer of the inland river traffic idea and supervised much government reclamation work along the Boone County river lines. Maupin Harris served the Confederacy under the state flags of both Missouri and Kentucky. He was captured at the Battle of Vicksburg.
