The Stapper family sailed from Bremen, Germany; destination was the Port of New Orleans during the fourth quarter of 1850(October 23)aboard the ship,'Ocean Queen'.

Note: The beginning of Schertz, Texas: Originally, it was called CIBOLO PIT. The Southern-Pacific Railroad had a spur to a gravel pit in the Cibolo. Flood waters rushed straight across and cut off the gravel pit. When the first post office was established in May of 1882, it was named CUT-OFF. Then in 1899 the post office name changed to SCHERTZ.
