Berniece Eloise Harding born Oct 25, 1906 to Everett Jesse Harding & Juliette Dot Tyler Harding. At the age of 20 she met and married Arnold James Bowen of Waverly Wisconsin. They we wed in Red Wing Minnesota just across the river. They made their home in Waverly, also known as Rock Elm Township, a bustling community at the time. Together they raised 3 sons, Eldon, LeRoy and Irvin. They lived in a house behind the General Store and across from the saw mill.

Berniece loved to cook and sew. As a show of resourcefulness, she recycled plastic bread bags she got from family and friends, sorting them by color, then using them to make braided floor rugs, they were quiet beautiful.

She also made fresh bread, up to 7 loaves per week and had a huge garden. Her chocolate pie was wonderful. There was always something to keep the kids occupied at grandma's house. Summer evenings she would have all the kids take turns 'turning the crank' on the ice cream maker.

Bernice had a stroke which took her life Aug 23, 1976.
