Husband of Margaret Moore Judd. Father of Dennis (Arlene), Darrell (Nell), Billy (Jesse) and Jimmy (Susie). Grandfather of Denise (preceded him in death), Penny, Lance (Donna), Jim (Tracey), Melissa (Stuart), Jeremy (Nicole), Jaycie and (after his death) Tyler. Great-grandfather of Cody, Tyler, Marshall, Joel, Kelsey and Kyle.

His father, Isom Theodore Judd, wanted JR to be a junior. He simply wrote Jr on the birth certificate, so his son was known simply as JR. The nickname Jiggs came along later - I assume from one of his 16 siblings. Jiggs, or PawPaw, was a World War II veteran who worked for many years as a carpenter and greyhound breeder, the latter a venture he took on with his son Darrell. He served as president of the Texas Greyhound Association and was a member of the National Greyhound Association. He died shortly before his 74th birthday from complications of Type I Diabetes and Lupus.
