Tom, 57 of Columbus, IN, died at 1:44 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Tom was born August 9, 1957 in Madison IN. He was the son of the late Thomas Eugene Furnish and Mary Jane Cox Furnish of Madison, IN. His wife Julie, of 26 years, he married on May 20, 1989 in Madison, IN, she survives as well as his Mother. Tom was preceded in death by his Father and two sisters, Marie Furnish and Carolyn King.
Tom began his career with Duke Energy in 1981 where he was a supervisor. He was a 1980 graduate of Hanover College where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Tom was a member of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Seymour Sertoma and Leadership Jackson County.
Tom enjoyed fishing, playing racquetball and basketball. He also enjoyed cutting wood and spending time with family and friends.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, July 3, 2015, at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating.
The calling hours will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel at 3729 25th Street with a Rosary Service at 8:00 pm with Sandy Neidigh presiding. Cremation will follow the service at the Columbus Crematory with inurnment at a later date at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
