Olga Marie Bottolfsen, age 93, of Hartington, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 6:25 a.m. at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hartington with Rev. Bob Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Paragon Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hartington. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with a prayer service and video tribute at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Church.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Gene Boysen, Darin Boysen, Martin Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Nick Bottolfsen, Scott Bottolfsen, Troy Bottolfsen, Todd Bottolfsen, and Trent Bottolfsen. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters; Amy Saskosky, Heidi Johnson, Kate Bottolfsen, Wendy Eickhoff, Stacey Arthur, Laurie Joslin, and Sandy Bottolfsen.
Olga Marie Bottolfsen was born July 29, 1914 at rural Obert, Nebraska to Manuel and Arna (Haug) Klanderud. She was baptized into the Christian faith on November 19, 1914 and later confirmed on June 12, 1927 all at Zion Lutheran Church of Obert, Nebraska.
Olga graduated from Obert High School in December of 1931 and then attended Wayne State College the winter and spring of 1932 at which time she received her teaching degree. From 1932 to 1939 she went on to teach school at the Pleasant Grove School which was located next to the Wiseman Monument, Brooky Bottom School #7, Lime Grove School of Dixon County and Maskell Public School.
On June 2, 1939 she married Martin Bottolfsen at her parent's farm home north of Obert. Olga and Martin lived and farmed their entire life in the Paragon Community northeast of Hartington. Olga was a member of the Paragon Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church of Hartington. Besides her duties as a very loving mother and farm wife she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aide and Circle organizations and an avid quilter attending Love Day once a month at the Church. She served on the Paragon Lutheran Cemetery Board and Precinct #8 Election Board.
Olga is survived by two daughters and 3 sons, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, a sister, Rachel and her husband Bill of Phoenix, AZ and two sister-in-laws, Loretta of Hartington and Christine of Obert, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin on August 20, 1990, great granddaughter, Brittany Joslin; a sister Esther Bottolfsen and brothers Otto and Henry Klanderud.
