Jessie Gillentine, 71, died Thursday at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Itawamba County, he was a resident of Nettleton for 46 years and a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and ran Gillentine's Garage with his son Bobby Gene Gillentine prior to his retirement.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.R. Magers officiating. Burial will be in Plantersville Cemetary with McGrath-Raspberry Funeral Home, Inc., in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie Gillentine of Nettleton, a son, Bobby Gene Gillentine of Nettleton; two brothers, David Gillentine of Pontotoc and Willie Gillentine of Mooreville; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Witt of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Annie McGhee of Picayune, Mrs. Dessie Stevens of Smithville, and Mrs. Lula Turquitte of Bessemer, Ala.; three grandchildren and a great-granchild.
The body will lie in state at Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton.
