- Bobby Gene Gillentine, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1933, in Lee County to the late Jessie and Elsie (Fowler) Gillentine. He was a lifelong resident of Nettleton and a 1951 graduate of Nettleton High School. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War. He was an automobile mechanic with his father at Gillentine's Garage in Nettleton for more than 40 years before retiring five years ago. He was an avid car buff, antique collector, and enjoyed reading. He was a Methodist.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Dale Whitlock, Carol Pettigrew, and the Rev. L.R. Magers officiating. Burial will be in Plantersville Cemetary.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Gillentine and his wife, Donna of Nettleton; his daughter, Cynthia Gillentine Macias and her husband, Vic of Orlando; and their mother, Joyce Gillentine-Heyman of Nettleton. He is also survived by his sons, Michael and Bobby Gene Gillentine, Jr. of Nettleton; his daughters, Yvonne and Jennifer Gillentine of Nettleton; and their mother, Earline Barnes of Nettleton; three grandchildren, Sabrina and Jesse Gillentine and Perrish Gillentine, all of Nettleton.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Ray, Tommy Hall, David Berryhill, Poppy Cruber, Tony Mixon, and Jimmy Cruber.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the North Mississipi Medical Center in Tupelo, or to the Signet of Honor Building Fund in Nettleton.
