Mary Jane Armstrong, 93, 915 S. Hamilton St., Lebanon, died Thursday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, following surgery for a fractured leg she suffered Wednesday.
She was born Dec. 11, 1899, in Boone County, daughter of the late Noah and Mollie (Goins) Smith. She married Otis L. Armstrong in Hendricks County in 1917. He died in 1958.
She and her husband farmed in the Ladoga community. She moved to Lebanon in 1960. She had been head cook at Lehman's Restaurant from 1960 to 1966. She managed three local laundromats for Eric Townsend until retiring in 1975.
Survivors include children Mrs. Dorothy Scott, Mrs. Mary Wagoner, Mrs. Janie Culley and James R. Armstrong, all of Lebanon; sisters Geraldine Turner, Salem, Ill., and Margaret Greer, Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three children, three brothers, three sisters, and a grandchild are deceased.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, the Rev. Howard Barefoot officiating. Burial will be at the K of P Cemetery, Lizton. Memorials may be made to the Boone County Heart Fund.
