Dorothy Poole Jellison, 94, died May 2, 2017 at Woodlands Assisted Living in Hallowell, ME. She was born in Augusta, GA Jan. 21, 1923, the daughter of D. Arthur and Jennie Poole. Dorothy grew up on a farm in Wrens, GA. She graduated from Wrens High School and Garrett Business College in GA. She also attended Georgia State Teachers College. She married Milton S. Jellison in 1946 and moved to Bangor, ME, returning to Georgia once a year to visit family. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1996. Dorothy had been a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization, Junior League, Shakespeare Club, PTA, a Girl Scout leader, and a member of First Baptist Church of Bangor for 70 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, parents and sisters, Florine Moses and Lillian Arnold. She is survived by son, Brian Jellison (Rosalind) of Augusta, ME; daughter, Linda Barry (Joseph) of Mt. Dora, FL; grandchildren: Michael Barry, Mark Barry (Michelle) of CT, and Meghan Jellison of South Portland, ME; and great-grandson, Lucas Barry. She is also survived by sisters Margaret Rice, Clara Preston, Elizabeth Carr and Allene Brown, all of GA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Committal prayers were held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Maine General Hospice, Philanthropic Education Organization or First Baptist Church, Bangor, ME .
