Frederick William Meyer, age 82 years died at his home near Nortonville Monday morning at eight o'clock, Mr. Meyer has been in poor health for sometime and was taken worse last Friday but his condition was not considered serious until Monday morning about five o'clock, when he became worse and died three hours later. Mr. Meyer was born in Bremen county, Germany, December 24, 1825. He came to MIchigan at the age of twenty years. One year later he was married to Amelia Berger, of Southfield Michigan, and they moved to Kansas in 1867. To thier union seven children were born and those living are Dolph and Ferdinand Meyer, of Arizona. Robert Meyer, of Nortonville, and Elmer Meyer, of Effingham. His firs wife died in 1873 and he was married again to Elizabeth Tschantz, who survives him. Six children were born to this last union and those living are Mrs. C. B. Henderson, of Effingham; Mrs. Willard Willis, of Wakefield, Kansas; and Annie, Henry and Minnie, who are at home. The funeral occured at the Pleasant Grove Christian church, south of Effingham, Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The funeral sermon was preached by Elder Mattox, who is conducting a series of meets at Effingham. The Masonic lodge at Effingham conducted the funeral exercises.
